A circus with a difference

You might not know this but tucked away in a little corner of Covent Garden in the heart of London is a circus. This isn’t a big top tent affair though full of scary little men, with painted faces, big shoes and red noses squirting water in each other’s faces. This is a circus with a difference as it is a restaurant called Circus which mixes cocktails, excellent food with good old fashioned cabaret. Take a look here http://www.circus-london.co.uk/.

An afternoon in Paris

What do most normal people do when they have a spare afternoon to kill In London? Visit the zoo, take a trip to Big Ben, walk around one of the big smoke’s many parks or do what I did and jump on a train to Paris? To be fair the Eurostar is one of the many reasons why I love living in London and I think anyone should try and use it at least once. Fair enough it doesn’t appear to be great in the snow, but then again neither am I.  I’ve used it twice now and think its bloomin’ wonderful.

From a wheelchair point of view its one of the best experiences of public transport and customer service I’ve had. They only have two wheelchair spaces on the trains but both of these are in first class carriages. The best thing is that if you are travelling in a wheelchair then you don’t pay first class prices, instead it’s about £60 for the person in the wheelchair and the same again for the person they are travelling with. Not only that but you still get the free meals and drinks included that you would expect if you were travelling first class. They also cater for food intolerances so I was able to get a really high quality gluten free breakfast and evening meal, which for anyone who is gluten free will know this is not easy!  More info on access on the Eurostar can be found here http://tiny.cc/RgeTm and you can get tickets here http://tiny.cc/EHETq.

Darts at the 02

Thursday night saw us take a trip to the first week of Premier League Darts at the O2 Arena. Strangely enough the tickets were a birthday present for Miss G and before I get grief for dragging my girlfriend to watch darts I would like to point out that it was actually her idea! You’ve got to love a girl who is up for the darts. Suave, elegant, athletic specimens they are not but darts players do provide great entertainment. I’m not alone in thinking that, just ask the ten thousand fans who joined us at the 02. As for the action, eight blokes threw a dart at a dartboard and once in a while we got to cheer when they got 180. As you can see I have no idea what I’m talking about. For a more comprehensive review I suggest you go here http://www.pdc.tv/page/PremierLeagueDetail/0„10180~1963423,00.html.

What I will say is that if you want a great night out then you won’t go far wrong with the darts. No seriously, darts is actually quite good fun. If you want cheerleaders, a great atmosphere, a bit of drama and spotting who has come in the best fancy dress then maybe, just maybe darts might be for you. For the record the guy dressed as Banana Man who spent about 20 minutes waving at the camera so he could get on TV gets my vote, if only for the fact he looked genuinely proud to have made it on to the big screen.
