First things first, season’s greetings one and all. As you can see I’m feeling festive, in-fact I would go as far as to say I have the Christmas groove on big time. So much so I may have just over done it and I promise to never say the words Christmas and groove again in the same sentence. That being said I do love this time of year. I love the food, I love buying and I’m not ashamed to say receiving presents, I love spending time with family, I love Christmas films, tinsel, trees, rubbish songs, the extra gluten free stuff I can buy at this time of year, marzipan and Christmas stockings both the saucy and presents filled type. I could go on but I suspect you get the picture. But there is one thing that I might just love more than anything else and that is the Christmas jumper.
These are wonderful things and as you can probably gather from the photo this year I have found myself a bloody belter. As far as I am concerned the cheesier and cringe inducing the Christmas jumper the better. In my eyes a good Christmas jumper should look like you have taken your grandmother filled her with sherry, put her on a playground roundabout for 20 minutes, tied her fingers together with masking tape, blindfolded her and then asked her to knit a festive jumper…with her teeth…whilst hanging upside down…and distracting her with repeats of Last of the Summer Wine.
The thing is though I’m actually starting to worry this year that I may have misjudged my festive purchase. Normally the reaction I expect is a look of horror, a roll of the eyes and a groan so deep that it could wake a dormant volcano. However, with this natty piece of knitwear I have been inundated with compliments. In-fact I have worn it in public twice and both times I’ve had to wrestle people determined to take it from my back and have had numerous requests as to where I bought it.
Well fear not as I know you are asking the same question. I actually got it off Amazon via a great online retro shop called Fuzzdandy. What’s more the best thing is it only cost £24.99. The link to the jumper on Amazon is here www.amazon.co.uk/Vintage-Fairisle-festive-christmas-jumper/dp/B004CMK8FY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1292495580&sr=8-2and you can see the stuff on Fuzzdandy here www.fuzzdandy.co.uk.
And if you still don’t believe me that the Christmas jumper is cool then read this and be persuaded that I’m right http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/fashion/article-23908780-ho-ho-ho-its-all-go-in-a-santa-sweater.do .
